Established in 1893 in Yamagata Prefecture, HATSUMAGO adheres strictly to the Kimoto method, resisting trends and prioritizing traditional craftsmanship.
This dedication was rewarded in 2018, when they were named Brewery of the Year by the IWC, later winning in three separate categories. Known for its deep umami, fine structure, and creamy yet dry finish, HATSUMAGO sake originates from Sakata, a historic port city once enriched by rice trading and shipping. The name means “first grandchild,” symbolizing continuity and care across generations.
