About our Sake Shop We import high-quality Sake from Japan
Thanks to our high-quality portfolio, a strong network and a professional and diverse range of further training opportunities, UENO GOURMET has developed into the leading importer for sake in Germany, Austria and Switzerland since it was founded in 2005. We are proud to count renowned sommeliers and chefs among our company's fans.
This success is the result of more than 15 years of hard work and a strong vision: From the very beginning, our goal was to establish sake in fine dining as an equal accompaniment to champagne and wine. And of course to give private connoisseurs an introduction to the subject of sake.
Our philosophy We import Sake, Shochu and Spices from Japan...
...observing the following principles:
- High-quality products with exquisite taste.
- Personally selected products, which we directly import from renowned manufacturers in Japan.
- Japanese Craftsmanship perfection and production according to traditional methods.
- Products made exclusively from Japanese ingredients.
- Aroma-preserving transport method (air freight or refrigerated sea containers).
Good reasons to buy Premium Sake
Unmatched Craftsmanship
- Artisan Brewing: Skilled master brewers (toji) produce premium sakes using centuries-old techniques, often with hand-polished rice and small-batch fermentation.
- More Rice Polishing: Daiginjo grades strip away 50% or more from every grain, leaving only the purest starch core for delicate flavors.
Sophisticated & Refined Flavors
- Fruity & Florally Aromatic Notes: Fragrances of apple, melon, jasmine, or tropical fruit (Ginjo / Daiginjo).
- Umami Depth: Junmai types possess rich, savory flavor (caramelized mushrooms or sweet rice are a good example).
- Smooth Finish: Less alcohol burn, with clean, lingering finish.
Health & Purity
- No Additives: Premium Sake avoid sugars, acids, or preservatives — just rice, water, koji, and yeast.
- Lower Sulfites: Fewer headaches for some drinkers than with wine.
- Enzymes & Amino Acids: Believed to aid digestion and metabolism.
Versatility
- Pairing Superstar: Suitable for anything from sushi to steak, cheese, or even chocolate.
- Temperature Range: Serve chilled (Ginjo), warm (Junmai), or room temperature to bring out varied tastes.
Status & Experience
- Gift-Worthy: Labels like Dassai Beyond or Katsuyama Diamond convey sophistication (comparable to fine wine).
- Cultural Connection: Drinking high-quality sake is an experience of Japanese heritage and terroir (e.g., Yamada Nishiki rice from Hyogo).
Investment Potential
- Aged Sakes: Some Koshu (aged sake) appreciates in value, like vintage wine.
- Limited Editions: Small breweries release seasonal batches that are collectible.
