A unique sake brewed by the experimental KIUCHI brewery from Ibaraki Prefecture.
For this sake, three types of rice (Asamurasaki, Miyama Nishiki and Gohyakumangoku) are skillfully mixed and brewed together. Asamurasaki is an old, red rice variety that is used here unpolished. This way the sake retains the pigments of the rice and sparkles in a beautiful red color.
Due to this unique color, pronounced acidity and slight astringency, this sake is actually reminiscent of red wine, with these characteristics giving the sake a nice lightness and freshness. Aromas of berries, grapes, strawberries, cranberries, cooked cherries and cooked plums surprise.
A beautiful depth of flavor and balanced umami make this sake a versatile and exciting food companion that will surprise everyone at the table. Our tip: serve well chilled.

Producer: 菊盛 kikusakari
Founded in 1823 in the picturesque town of Naka, Ibaraki, Kiuchi Brewery is located on the Naka Plateau, surrounded by the Kuji and Naka rivers, known for freshwater fish and salmon. The brewery uses its own spring water for sake production, which bubbles from a fountain in the brewery. In the town of Sakaide, about 1 km away, sake is said to have flowed from a well in the Manyo era. In addition to high-quality sake, the Kiuchi Brewery is also known for its willingness to experiment and also produces the internationally recognized Hitachino Nest Craft Beer using unique ingredients such as yuzu, orange peel, and spices.
